A cellular automaton is a collection of cells on a grid with specific shapes that evolve through a number of steps from a set of rules based on the states of neighboring cells. A cellular automaton (CA) is an array, where cells change state or not, taking for example values of zero or one, at each clock strike. The new value obeys simple laws that evaluate the states of neighboring cells. If the right configurations and laws are achieved, objects brimming with complexity and beauty can be obtained.
